Last night was the first night with reasonably hard frost, we have been having odd weather, mind you everybody is having odd weather, during the day is sunny and it was warm up until the last couple of days, when even the sun is shining it is just a misconception that its warm. Not sure how much longer this weather is going to keep up this trend.
The bees make the best of it and take the sunny days as they come, they do wait till the sun is hitting the hive entrances and then they are reasonably busy. I have not moved them together and neither have I reduced the two hives that I considered reducing, I do keep an eye on them they seem to be spending considerable amount of time either in the middle of the two or on top of the second super, going to have a look tomorrow morning, I believe it is going to be cold again so they will cluster up, I am interested where they will do it. The only flowers left now are Asters, a few roses, in the field they might be able to find some clover I have seen a few dandelions, I have not seen them coming home with that amazing green pollen as they have done the previous years, might have something to do with the dry summer. Or maybe it is not ready to harvest, I mean plants are ripening later we picked a bowl of raspberries yesterday, that is mind blowing.
