26th of February 2013, a very warm day. Around lunch time Mike has spotted some of the bees out and about. It was such an exciting news that I got him to take a picture as I was on the slopes at the time and skiing. The weather yesterday was very spring like, warm not too windy. There were some dead bees by the entrance of the beehive I suspect they were having a clear out. Otherwise they seem fine. There was a lot of shaving,dust from the foundation sheets, it must be from them feeding. I have also read that they might start producing brood soon, they don’t seem to worry too much about the temperature. Their main factor is length of day and the later is the temperature.
We have been keeping an eye on them, not sure specifically what their status is as I haven’t opened it since last year.
I am very excited and happy to know that I still have bees.
